Mission of the United Samaritans Foundation is to be an advocate
for the poor in the spirit of the Christian Tradition. The
Foundation will search out areas of need and explore creative and

Over
ONE TON of Food
Maris Sturtevant,
Assistant Director of USF stated “Our friends
and supporters are just awesome”! The Stanislaus County Fair
Board of Directors had again invited USF to collect canned food
opening night July 29 at the Fair Gates. COLLECT THEY DID - over
one ton of food - for the USF food program. Maris stated that the
donations were higher than last year but so is the homeless and
hunger needs. Our heartfelt thanks goes to all those who volunteered
and worked at making this event so successful. We could not have
done it without YOU !!

PIE
CONTEST RESULTS ARE IN!

Pies ? 30 Pies ? NO…40
pies were submitted for the pie contest. USF extends
their thanks to Dr. Dave Dubyak and Dubyak Family Chiropractic
for sponsoring the annual Stanislaus County Fair Pie
Contest. Thanks to our judges: Peggy Stepro, Sally
Pearce, Charlie Wickwire, Julie Fox and Jim Duval.
This fun event benefits USF food programs. If you were
unable to participate in this event, you will have
another opportunity to do so. Watch for upcoming issues
for more information.

‘PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE”
1,049 individuals received 3 meals for 3 days via the Emergency Food
Box Program. Because of your faithful support, 9,441 meals were provided
during July 2005. The need has increased 66% from July 2004. You made
it possible for USF Daily Bread Trucks to serve 27,287 meals in July
2005. On the highest day 1,669 meals were served.

Director Bill Sturtevant states that personal toiletry items
such as toothbrush, toothpaste, razors,
deodorant, including
bath towels are needed.
Sleeping bags, men and women’s jeans are needed. Also paper towels,
comet and bleach are needed. Thank you for supporting the mission of

VOLUNTEER IN SPOTLIGHT
Margaret
(Peggy) Stepro has been a dedicated volunteer with USF since
December 2004. She joined USF as an Intern from CSU
Stanislaus, Turlock.
Presently, she is involved in Friends of USF and Fund Raising Committees.
Her talents and skills have been a blessing to USF. Peggy Stepro
is currently a Senior at CSU Stanislaus, majoring in Sociology.
USF
Says ‘Thank
You Peggy.” It is people like Margaret (Peggy) Stepro who support
USF in their efforts to make a difference by daily touching lives
in a positive way.
