The Mission of the United Samaritans Foundation is to be an advocate for the poor in the spirit of the Christian Tradition. The Foundation will search out areas of need and explore creative and holistic ways to meet them.

FEINSTEIN FOUNDATION CHALLENGE

The time has come! Your donation will have a greater impact during March and April, since the Feinstein Foundation is dividing $1 million among non-profit organizations around the country who are helping fight hunger. All contributions as well as food donations received by United Samaritans Foundation between March 1, and April 30, 2005 will help us qualify for part of these funds. Information is also being sent to selected schools in our community to invite them to participate by holding food drives. They’ll get a chance to win $1,000 at the same time! Please call Maris at (209) 668-4853 for details. The funding we have received each year has been extremely helpful to our ministry. With your generous donations, we have the ability to achieve even more.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Do you know of a high school senior who needs to fulfill a service requirement for graduation? We have just the place – actually we have three! We can place your student (with a permission slip signed by a parent for those under 18) in any of our three locations. We have need for many different skills and abilities. And you don’t have to be a student to help! We can find a place for anyone and everyone. For more information, please call Judy or Maris at 668-4853. We look forward to hearing from you.

LUNCHES SERVED

Meals served on our trucks during the month of February 2005 were 33,244. In our emergency food program, 191 families (445 people) were provided with a three-day, three meals per day supply of food, which equals 4,005 meals.

FRIENDS OF USF

Our next meeting of Friends of USF will be on April 14th from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. We are looking for people willing to contribute their time and talent to form a “Fund Development Committee. We welcome anyone who would like to join us. We hope to see you there!

IN NEED OF

Women’s Underwear, sizes 6, 7, and 8. We also need disposable razors and other personal toiletry items. Our little ones always need diapers of all sizes, and Formula, (Similac). Our emergency food box program is running low on egg cartons. Other needs are ground beef or other ground meat, pasta noodles, dish soap, bleach, paper towels, and bath towels. Please bring your donations to United Samaritans Foundation at 220S Broadway, in Turlock.
