New Resource Center Opens its Doors
California State University, Stanislaus has been awarded a two-year grant from the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development to open a multi-service Resource Center to serve those who find themselves homeless and in need of supportive services. The University is working with the United Samaritans Foundation, Stanislaus Homeless Outreach Program, Community Housing and Shelter Services, the WE CARE Program, the Stanislaus Literacy Center and the City of Turlock to develop a center that will provide services to assist with housing needs, mental health support, literacy development and life skills such as financial management and job skills. The Center also provides a reading library, Internet access and assistance in working with other supportive agencies. Currently, the Resource Center is open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 9:30-12:30 but will have expanded summer hours shortly. |
