Spotlight
Volunteer Vern Ellman

August 1993 Vern and Witnee Ellman, members of the Light of Christ Lutheran Church, signed up as volunteers at United Samaritans Foundation. They began to volunteer 4 hours on Mondays and Wednesdays. Their tasks: hard boil the eggs, peel the eggs and grind the eggs for the egg salad sandwiches delivered to the homeless and hungry from the USF Daily Bread Trucks. Little did Vern know that 12 years and 3 months later, thousands would be feed from his efforts.

  343,440 Eggs

  10,272 Volunteer Hours

Wow !!! What A Record !!!

Witnee went home to be with the Lord in June 2005 but Vern Ellman and his crew of 4-5 volunteers still remains faithful to their post of duty. Why do they do it? Vern says, “I love the Lord and I love USF.”
