This Thanksgiving


… We take time to be thankful for our many blessings. Blessings come in all sorts of packages – from the school children who have projects that help us help those in need, to congregations who assist with donations, to community members who volunteer their time to help with sandwiches, food boxes, clothes closet and pickup of donations…We thank all of you who are especially blessed for sharing your blessings with those less fortunate. Thanksgiving is a time for family and friends to gather and share time together. It is a good time to reflect on the past and create memories for the future. All of us at the United Samaritans Foundation wish you a wonderful holiday.

Famous Pumpkin Pie Contest


Well, almost…this is your advance notice to get your recipes out and ready for Dr. Dave Dubyak’s Famous Pumpkin Pie Contest which will be held on November 22nd.. Anyone who would like to can bake two pies and take them to Dr. Dubyak’s office at 3008 Geer Rd., between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on the 22nd. One will be judged and the other will be used on the lunch trucks on Thanksgiving Day.

Make a tax deductible contribution to United Samaritans Foundation, we in turn will send out a holiday card in honor of friends or loved ones. This is a great way to keep those friends, co-workers , family, and love ones in mind while assisting USF in serving those less fortunate.

IN NEED OF:


Please keep bringing the blankets and heavy socks during this cold weather. We get lots of requests for them. Also heavy jackets for men, women, and children.

As always we still need disposable razors, deodorant, toothpaste, maternity clothes for our soon to be mothers, diapers, (all sizes) and formula for our little ones.

In the kitchen area we are in need of creamy peanut butter, sugar, and other spices. We are also in need of some items for our homeless friends, such as vitamin C, cough drops, and similar items.

A really special need is your valuable time. As you know the shelter for the homeless will be opening December 1st. Starting November 29th and 30th, we will be moving all the beds, blankets and office supplies into the new building. We can use some help with moving and setting up. Please call, if you can give us a helping hand, (209) 668-4853, and asked for Sean, Bill, or Maris.

Meals served on out trucks during the month of October 2004 were 46,579.

In our Emergency Food Box Program 274 families (776 people) were provided with a three-day, three meals per day supply of food, which equals 6,984 meals.
