"Message From The President"

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Thank you for your continued support of the United Samaritans Foundation, (USF). We really do depend very much on your generosity and continued support.

As we have found throughout the County and State, public funding is slowly drying up, but the real story is there are more and more people in need of food. It is frustrating for us not being able to fulfill all the needs that we see.
There seems to be ample food available and our staff has an extensive network in being able to bring in the needed food. Distribution is our main problem. We reach out to those areas most in need. Unfortunately our arms aren’t quite long enough. Having to temporarily cut services on the weekends was hard for us. We hope it’s only temporary.

The lack of funding available to USF is real. We are working very hard preparing our first fundraiser October 29th at Sky Trek Aviation in Modesto and encourage everyone to attend. There will be food, music, a silent and an oral auction. I’m sure there is something for you that you can’t possibly do without!

So mark your calendar and join in the fun. Remember, USF depends on your Time, Your Talent and Your Treasures in order for us to continue our Mission. We thank you and may God Bless you all.

EMPLOYEE IN SPOTLIGHT

One of the many employees who support USF in its Mission of daily touching lives of people in need is Barbara Bawanan.

Barbara has shared her talents and skills for ten years as Hughson Site Manager. Her various duties and responsibilities include overseeing the Clothes Closet, Food Bank, and the Daily Bread Ministry which includes the warehouse and kitchen. A Hughson Daily Bread Truck serves those in need in Hughson, Empire, Waterford, Hickman and Denair areas.

USF Says “Thank you Barbara.” It is employees like Barbara Bawanan that reiterates that one person can make a difference.

USF thanks all of you who donated school supplies and BACK PACKS. Numerous requests were received and BECAUSE OF YOU children returned to school blessed with BACK PACKS. However, the need is great – we still have children waiting for their BACK PACKS. WILL YOU HELP? Your gifts are tax deductible. Receipts are given. Sweats are also needed - adult & children, all colors, all sizes. USF THANKS YOU FOR CARING.

586 individuals received 3 meals for 3 days via the Emergency Food Box Program. Because of your faithful support, 5,274 meals were provided August 2005. You made it possible for USF Daily Bread Trucks to serve 30,380 meals August 2005. On the highest day 1,799 meals were served from the Daily Bread Trucks.
